Come and discover Kondalilla Eco Resort, only 1.5 hours drive north of Brisbane city. Set in amongst 20 acres of magificent Sunshine Coast Hinterland rainforest, this authentic retreat away from city life allows you time to experience nature. Adjacent to Kondalilla National Park, a large natural rainforest reserve hosting the famous Kondalilla Falls, the resort is abundant with natural bush lands and wildlife.
Kondalilla National Park is traditional lands of the Gubbi Gubbi people and has special spiritual significance for the Aboriginal people who travelled here, with tribes travelling great distances, when the bunya nuts were in season. Kondalilla is an Aboriginal word meaning ‘rushing waters’.
Kondalilla Eco Resort is a family business led by owner Gene Thompson, and our wonderful Resort Manager Jacqui Freeman, both who share a vision to respectfully enhance the environment, and accommodation facilities, while provide an embracing and warm welcome to all our guests. Our cabins are scattered on the property offering our guests secluded and romantic rainforest isolation, whilst their simple rustic interiors inspire comfort and cosiness, with an emphasis on experiencing the nature around you.
Kondalilla Eco Resort is dedicated to the preservation of the natural environment and has introduced many initiatives to reduce our environmental impact and live in harmony with our surrounds. The Resort, for example, has reduced it’s energy consumption by introducing led lighting and introducing gas hot systems, has focused on using recycled water for the entire property by drilling for new bores and upgrading the water reticulation system. We continue to work with the Department of Environment and other environmental consultants to employ measures to ensure that our environmental impact to our environment, and the adjacent National Park, is minimal.
Our Resort manages rainwater runoff and introduced a revegetation program to regenerate the natural bushland with local species and removal noxious weeds. The Resort Management has made remarkable strategic progress on its environmental management in it’s first year, and are committed to continue to raise the standard of our Resort so that it meets all of the requirements to be able to call our Resort, an Eco Resort. The long-term plan is for continuous improvement in terms of quality, service, comfort and natural beauty.
